July 2025: Favorite Place – The Beach"At the beach - time you enjoyed wasting, is not wasted." -T. S. Eliot
If you could own a 2nd home anywhere, where would it be? A nice place in the mountains close to some stunning scenery? Anything to escape the summer heat sounds nice right about now. Or maybe a cabin out in the country on a couple of acres to take a breath and enjoy the quiet away from the hustle and bustle of city life. I’m not opposed to lake life either. Boating activities or enjoying a cold one while basking on a float is a great way to pass the time. But then there’s the beach. I’ve always loved the beach…
The salt filled air, the ocean breeze, the soothing sounds of the waves crashing against the shore. Endless views, fresh seafood, don’t even get me started. From the time you arrive to the time you leave, there’s a noticeable change in your stature. Relaxing in the sun and swimming in the ocean for a few days is good for the soul.
Last week, we got to take my son to Wrightsville Beach, NC where I grew up vacationing and watching him crawl around the sand and take in the ocean for the first time was very special.
The Power of Visualization
“Visualization is daydreaming with a purpose.”
– Bo Bennett
I don’t know how I’m going to do it or if it will ever make sense logistically, but my dream is to one day own a beach house. There, I said it and I’ll tell you why. I feel like at this stage in life, it’s hard to take an extended amount of time off. A lot of us are in our prime work years and as much as I enjoy the fulfilling aspect of working so hard, I would love more time to relax and unplug. If I owned a beach house and could spend more than a week living that salt life, I think I would have an easier time doing so. It’s a ways away, but one can dream and should!
Final Month of Summer, Make it Count
“August is like the Sunday of Summer”
-Kelly Dwyer
It always goes by too fast and right around this time at the end of July, the thought of fall starts to creep in and sound pretty nice right about now. I’m always a little sad to say goodbye to summer but excited for what lies ahead for the rest of the year. Wishing everyone a wonderful last month and be sure to make it the best!
"If there's heaven for me, I'm sure it has a beach attached to it." - Jimmy Buffett
